Peebles County Cricket Club 1st XI v Heriots 2 on Sat 20 Aug 2011 at 1300
Peebles County Cricket Club Lost by 32 runs

Match report Heriots visited Whitestone Park for the final home league match of the first eleven. After a week of showers the sun shone and County had a team of ages and experiences. League leaders Heriots batted first and County made real inroads capturing three quick wickets and were very much in charge. Knight (2-18) and Maxwell (1-9) led the attack and wickets fell steadily due to the accurate bowling.Steve Slater , one of two baggies playing, delivered his custumary swing and seam and continued to create wickets ending with three for twenty seven. A couple of dropped catches proved costly as Heriots closed on 120 all out. Caddick (3-26) ended the innings with one of two neat stumpings from the ever youthful Silver Scorer and Sheppard (0-32) completed the bowling. In reply County lost a wicket in the first over and two further quick wickets.John Brophy hung around on his impressive and encouraging first team debut and helped steady the ship as runs began to come.A few more quick wickets fell and Caddick unfortunately ran out captain Knight. Caddick eventually fell for 45 and Joe Slater batted tremendously at the end and was again closing on his father's score, ending on 2no. The Silver Scorer struck some magnificent blows at the end for a very quick 20. County ended up 88 for 9 and Heriots deservedly won the league title being the best team seen this season. Congratulations to them.
